Parker Ph.D</p></b></font><font face="Arial"> <p> The Institute uses both Performance Mapping and Athletic Profiling to achieve high levels of success in its athletes. Athletic mapping is the technique of utilizing knowledge of the performance characteristics of a given sport and position. Performance characteristics represent what athletes are asking their body to do in their chosen sport. The mapping and profiling involve kinesiological, biomechanical, metabolic and physiological considerations.</p> <p>Before any training program is set up, each athlete is put through a comprehensive evaluation, assessing how they measure up against the performance mapping of the sport's requirements. </p> <p>Athletes are tested for proprioceptive balance, agility, strength, power and flexibility in specific movements and muscle groups. Agonist and antagonist muscles (muscle groups that work with and against each other) are also measured. Ratios are determined for strength and range of movement. Deficits are determined which are addressed in the training protocols.</p> <p>Each athlete is different. Age, gender, growth and development are considered, as well as history and treatment of injuries. Risk of injuries in sport are taken into account to lower this risk through proper training.</p> <p>Athletes are also assessed for body composition, with optimal lean muscle and fat mass ratios determined. Gait analysis is performed both on the treadmill, as well as, a computerized system called Foot Max. </p> <p>Once the Athletic Profile is complete, the training protocols are determined within core Acceleration Programs to maximize performance characteristics and to address deficiencies found in the athletic profiling and performance mapping process.
